Groupe Bruxelles Lambert (GBL) is one of Europe’s largest financial holding companies, and as a BEL20 listed company, they are legally required to publish their results annually. During my time at Landmarks, I was tasked with the creative conception and the production of GBL’s annual report.
The key development I implemented for the 2025 report was optimising it for being read on screens. As annual reports are sourced from company websites and read directly on screen, the shift to a horizontal orientation matched these consumption trends. I also added interactive navigation, allowing readers to sift their way to relevant information.
However, knowing that annual reports are still printed, often at home or at the office, I decided early that a print version would be required. I designed the grid of the document to allow the navigation to sit on the left and allow me to simply trim it to an A4 size. This allowed me to avoid a second design process and reduce risks of inconsistencies at the end of production. A small print run was also completed, with the report taking on the feel of a coffee-table book which I believe best suits how these documents are interacted with.
This report was published in English, French and Dutch, requiring constant collaboration between myself and the client. An online collaboration tool was used to ensure consistency and accuracy across all three documents while meeting the legal deadline.
Until 2025, GBL had always published their annual report for print, so this report marked a noticeable shift in approach. The smooth transition and final result were met with positive feedback from key stakeholders and the new design system is to be carried forward for future reports.
This project was completed while working at Landmarks.
